This week at STATSdraft we’re getting into robotics. A really cool interaction at an event we did for the PURE Pitch Rally got us connected with some high school students and one of them had the inspired idea to incorporate robotics into STATSdraft.
It’s been a blast watching the videos and doing some research on these teams and it dawned on me that y’all might want to get in on some of the fun. So I went ahead and looked around for some cool robotics kits that you and yours could play with at home after you’ve been inspired by the competitors at the Heartland Regional FIRST robotics competition.
We’ve all seen the cool robotic arm in the Marvel movies doing errands for Tony Stark. This robot arm kit gives you a chance at a smaller version that’s less likely to try and take over the world. This kit comes with everything you need to build and control. A 360° rotating gripper can be changed out for a three claw gripper so you’ll be ready to play along with the claw machine when the NFL has another game from Andy’s room.
If you’ve watched the twitch videos of these robotics competitions with your kids they probably want to jump in on the robotics fun too. That’s why I found this really cool six in one electric robot kit. Whether you want a fun little vehicle, a drawing robot, or one that blows bubbles this kit’s got you covered. And they know everything is cooler with googly eyes so your robots are bound to have some real personality.
In advanced robotics there’s way more to these robots than just mechanisms. Competition robots are maneuvered using coding as well as remote controls. Intended for kids 8 to 12 this is an awesome introduction for anyone interested in more advanced robotics. Instructions will help you to fabricate and have fun with whichever design you decide to create.
We’re excited to be learning a new sport and what better way than to jump in and play. So play along with the FIRST Robotics Competitions by joining one of our new robotics leagues in the STATSdraft app and constructing your own robot from one of these cool kits.
